Dear Cottagers,

We are excited about having the opportunity to serve those of you who either live or vacation in the municipalities of Victoria Beach and Alexander. We are also proud to be carrying on the 80 year legacy of
Saffies, where we will strive to make “convenience the old fashioned way” an experience that you look forward to.

As 3rd & 4th generation cottage owners, we have always valued Saffies traditional role as the centre-piece (after the beach of course ) of the Albert Beach community. It is our desire to return it to that role by diligently serving the cottage owners, year-round residents, and seasonal visitors alike. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Convenience the Old Fashioned Way!

In case you are wondering just exactly what we mean by “convenience the old fashioned way”, here is our take:

Saffies is a general store where we will endeavor to provide you with all of the basic shopping items that you will need on a daily basis.

Where practical, we will also stock seasonal items that are in demand. It is our intention to make life a lot more convenient for those in our area, while at the same time, hoping to make your shopping experience as enjoyable as convenient. We hope you take advantage of the fresh coffee, latest news, and “not-so-old-fashioned” internet
access. We look forward to welcoming you to our store.

Saffies Continues!

My earliest memories of Saffies were being given a dime or a quarter by my grandfather so that I could buy a treat. I’d go into the store and spend so much time picking out the variety of gooey candies.

Every summer we would return from Montreal, Toronto and then as a teen from overseas to visit my grand-parents. As soon as I would get to the cottage I would be off to see the lake, the sand and the store.

It was a constant in my life that seemed like it would never change. It was a small part of my life that I held on to and cherished.

This beach community stayed unique and I continued to come every year, bringing my children and hoping to share some of my experiences with them as we swam in the lake, looked at the northern lights and … as I gave them some money to go buy candy from Saffies
Store.

Last fall, when we heard that Saffies store was being sold, my husband Jerry and I jumped at the opportunity to get involved. We wanted to have the chance to continue in the tradition that the Saffies family founded, and create something for the residents, cottagers and
visitors to call their own.

I wanted to acknowledge all of the people we have met so far. Their enthusiasm has encouraged us to pursue this dream. Also my parents’ involvement and assistance has been invaluable to help us then make this dream come true.

We look forward to welcoming you this summer!
